We believe a life well designed is a life well lived.
Robin and Michael McClintock moved from New York City to their farm in Tucker County, West Virginia almost 20 years ago. Eyes closed, they pointed to a spot on the map, and bought the parcel of land that is Mozark Mountain. They spent their first West Virginia autumn camped in a tent, building the one-room cabin where they’d spend winter. Now, that cabin is the dining room of their farmhouse on Mozark Mountain.
If we need something, we make it. We make our dinner from vegetables grown in our own garden, on the table we made, in the house we continually build outward. We trade locally, and we believe in bringing the old and discarded back to life again. Everything we make is informed by the idea that form, function, and design are deeply connected and inseparable. We believe a life well designed is a life well lived.
Mozark Mountain is our home, our place of work, and our ever-evolving work of art. Nestled in the Monongahela National Forest of Tucker County, West Virginia, this living mountain grows and changes with each new season. With our own hands, we’ve built or tended our farm home, our 5,000 sq. foot wood and metal workshop, our garden, and our 18 fainting goats. We built our own wood shop to build our home and furniture, and we built our own metal shop to keep our early 19th century tooling and machinery maintained for heavy use.
We make handmade, utilitarian objects and take on custom design, build and restoration works around the country.
We make custom-designed contemporary furniture and utilitarian objects handmade in our on-site wood shop, and restore old furniture back to it’s original functionality, while maintaining the beauty of it’s history and wear.
We restore historic facades by addressing contemporary building concerns with an accurate replication of original fabric, in order to honor a building’s character and satisfy Landmarks requirements.
We pair detailed site research with in-depth architectural history to create the highest quality crafted historical and modern architectural renderings and millwork.
